I have been putting off this update for a while now but everything is pretty much finalized for me to go ahead and tell you all my plans for the upcoming bobsleigh season.
As a lot of you may know, I have struggled through the past few years financially in bobsleigh. After competing at the 2010 Olympics for Australia, I decided to continue on in the sport as I want to achieve greater results than I have thus far. Fortunately I have the opportunity to compete for a different country, a country who has had a lot of success in the past and also very recently at the 2010 Olympics. Since I have lived in Canada for over 4 years now, no big surprises that the country is Canada. Competing for Canada will give me the opportunity to improve my skills and abilities to one day be more competitive at an Olympic level.
Competing for Australia has been an honour and I appreciate all the experiences that goes along with Australian bobsleigh. I will miss my team mates the most, and all the laughs and jokes that go with being on the Australian team - especially the singalongs to some great Aussie tunes.
All the paperwork should be completed in the next week or so for me to go ahead and be a part of the Canadian bobsleigh program. This year will be an exciting year for me, with plans to compete in Europe and to start driving 4man more than I have in the past. I started physical training about 6 weeks ago but a more structured training plan has just commenced.
As with the last couple of years, I plan to do hold a fundraising event this Summer to raise money for the upcoming season. Hopefully I will have details finalized in the next week or two and I will be sending out the information to you all.
Thanks again to all of you for your continued support.
