During the week I also received a couple emails form Marc Van Den Berg. Who is Marc you might ask?? Well, Marc is a very talented individual and is largely responsible for my results last season. Marc and the team at Eurotech have been busy again this Summer making sure that team Canada is the best equipped team in Bobsleigh and he sent to me some progress pictures of the Phoenix. Phoenix is the name of my new 4man sled, fitting as a Phoenix is a mythical and sacred fire bird which upon death, burns to ashes, and from these ashes a new young Phoenix is reborn and rises again to continue it's journey on its path to destiny. Pretty heavy eh? But I love it and I I love the name for it, it fits perfectly with some of the parts from the sled involved in the crash being used to recreate the Phoenix
Below is a couple photos of the Phoenix in the workshop in Venlo (Nederlands). The sled will be transported to Canada at the end of September in time for the first day on the ice in October.
In other news, the team finished off the last of the filming for the upcoming Shaw TV series called "Make it Happen". The Make it happen film crew came to a push training session where they took the final pieces of footage for the show. The highlight of the session was doing a 4man push again. This was the first time the team has pushed together since the accident and it was great to once again get in a sled with these guys, even if it was just in the ice house. Below are a couple pictures, both have Cliff the brave camera man sitting on the front of the sled getting some wicked shots.
Our next testing camp comes up in about 3 weeks time so again I will be sure to update you all before and after the camp. Until then, enjoy yourselves wherever you are in the world.
